Hello,
I use under the tank heat instead of a light. 78 degrees is still low. Normal 85+ day, night 70+. 65 at night is cold.
He looks fine and fat. If he is not eating, he could just be adjusting and additional heat would help. Try other food items once the temps are up.
They will spend most of their time dug in, so it you want to see him, keep the soil only as deep as he is tall.
Cheers
ohh thanks soo much for the help. i am not using a 100 watt incandecent bulb and i am waiting for temps to rise. so i shoot for 85 ambient temps.nand use my 75 watt night light purple bulb at night thank you
soo temps are 83 now/. climbed right out of his hole...ate a crick or two and is in his water bowl...checked in on him and cought him mid poop. lol...and poop is a good sign. thank you...didnt realize how importnt the higher temps are with these guys
so my frogs tank is now at 89 degrees, how hot is too hot
i have read that a day temp of a maximum of 85 is good for these guys. i am not positive, but i would go with that. he/she looks good, fat and healthy.![]()
I wouldn't go much over 85 if I were you. I have had reasonable success with these guys at slightly lower temperatures.
