Default Ok I need some good input for a build with a twist

Here in the near future I'm going to be building two large vivs. A 50g and a 70g. Both vert for tree frogs. The two two frogs I plan on owning will be a phyllomedusa vaillanti, and a species of blue webbed gliding tree frog.

Both vivs will be natural sitting, but one with post human existence design. o.O I want to build one with the idea of the rain forest taking back the land. For example a modern building being swallowed by climbing and vine plants. And so on and so forth.

If anyone is intrested in tossing ideas around please get back to me. I think clay would be the best for creating the buildings but I have never worked with it. This could be a cool build and would love to attemp a group effort.

I don't think I would be of much help with construction ideas, but I just wanted to say I'm absolutely in love with your concept. I can't wait for pics of your progress!

That concept sounds absolutely amazing and I am SO EXCITED! The first thing that comes to mind when I think of this is to have a large tower, maybe in the center but slightly off to the side, with a tree or plant of some sort growing out of the middle of it, looking kind of like the tower is surrounding the trunk and the tree has broken the tower but is now fully supporting it...I hope this translates visually. D:

Another thing I imagine is maybe a bridge scape sort of scene with roots twisting around and over, sort of like tentacles attempting to pull the bridge into whatever water feature it spans.

Totally excited, I'll offer any more help I can. I was just thinking about themed vivs and this idea is absolutely brilliant! ><

I think if u got a block of foam the size of the building u want, carve little shallow windows. And a cave in the building then concrete it all it would give u more of an impression of it being a building. I think( from my concrete knowledge) u have to add a bonding agent to your mix so it'll never chip off the foam. I've only seen it in one gallon jugs for 60$, you'd have to call a concrete supply company to see if they have it in smaller quantity. I have no viv experiance with it, but used it to bond concerte to wood and foam in my concrete house. Maybe mortar doesn't have that problem?

the bridge could be a suspension bridge with bendy vines for the wire supports!

OMg yes! This is amazing! >< The more I think about this the more I'm getting the idea that you could show...that maybe the world needs the forest. Like with the tower idea, the bride with the vine supports and the tower with the tree in the middle couldn't exist without the forest. An awesome viv concept and a GREAT message too!

Ginger- I've heard of commercial made pet concrete, have you or anyone you know used or experienced this stuff? I think its some sort of mortar/sand mixture. The foam blocks is a great idea too for like a building. Haha the windows could be carved to make the viv glass the building "real windows"

I beleive what your looking for is Habacrete Vivarium Mortar.

    http://www.herpinvert.com/HabaCrete/

I have heard good things about it but also some users have had to wait a long time to get it from the seller. I make no recommendations either way.
