This is my first setup with live plants and hopefully some red eye tree frogs any tips would be great.
I ordered some Zoo Med Hydro Balls I put the plants in with this soil is this ok or what else would I need.
I tried the local nursery's but they did not really have to much on my reptile safe list and a lot of things like Ficus trees were to big. So I ordered my plants from lllreptile.com. I did pick up 4 small 5inch plants 2 Dendrobium and 2 Chlorphytum.
I also got the zoo med reptile fogger which works very good. What Humidity level so I want???
What can I put on the back wall.
0k so I was on another forum and found one of the plants I got today on the toxic plant list. Thats funny because I got it from a safe list I thoguht. I am taking it out when my new plants come in the mail.
Philodendron spp. (PHILODENDRON); leaves; mouth irritated by plant raphides.??????
ya, you can look at differnt sites and find different lists. I had same delema with an umbrella. To fill that vertical space look for corn plants, bamboo, or snake plants. Snake plant also called mother in laws tounge. Can be tall, but u can just trim in a V shape or bend leaves. You can cut your corn (at stem) for height, it roots easily, if leaves die, don't worry it's fine. Sometimes u can find smaller babies at florists. For the back ground, because it's wood anyway, I would spray the whole thing with great stuff. And I'm worried bout the paint u used in there. Probably would kill the frog, dried or not!!
Great stuff your viv, dry4 days, get GE brown silicone and give it a nice coat, sprinkle dirt on, or clumps of moss.
Make ledges, or spray pots right into the viv.
Fun project
Thanks for the tips and I did not use paint on the inside??
well whatever it is it may kill your frogs, so find out. It was made for some lizard u had, that's different. Frogs absorb everything including smells. The glue at the seams looks like cauck, that's dangerous also. 100% silicone only.
The setup was not made for a lizard and its 100% reptile safe thanks for the concern .
reptile-- not amphibian
lol I ment to say animal. The people who made it insured me their were all safe products used to construct this setup
