    Default Ribbit Everyone

    Hi all you all,

I'm jacques from Nelspruit, Mpumalanga Province in South Africa. This for the guys and gals who do not know is the home of the world renowned Kruger National Park - a wild life conservation area double the size of New York State (US terms) or the size of Switzerland (EU terms) and that is on the South African side only!
Now I am a nature and cultural tourist guide taking guests to the various places of interest in the area as well as to the neighbouring country of Mozambique.

Presently I don't own a single froggy but this I am hoping to cahnge real soon...maybe with the help of some of you guys here!

We, my wife and I and the 2 kids own the following critters:
    8 x Sugar Gliders,
    2 x Weimaraners, and
    9 x Gerbils.
Oh yes and 1000's of meal worms!

So hopefully there are more South Africans out here that can help me to get into the Froggy thing and help me along the way!

    Warmest regards,

    Jacques S G

Jacques, I'M really happy to be welcoming you to Frog Forum from Canada! You will find a great community here, and we will make sure you get the "frog addiction". Your family already have a really nice "critter" family. Congrats!!

    Hi Eric,

Thanks mate. Just hope someone out here can help as apparently there are no exotic frogs available for sale in SA!!!

So yes, it seems my only hope is to try and find someone who will assist me in importing some here... maybe I will be able to start this hobby here (with the help of someone here!)

Looking forward in making as many friends as possible here.

    Regards,

    JSG

Jacques, I just responded to your post on Facebook. Understory Enterprises might be able to send you azureus but you will need to verify if you can receive this sort of shipment on your side.... And it is a long trek. Here is a link to their shipping terms: Understory Enterprises Inc. - Frequently Asked Questions

Anyway, you sound like a real wildlife junkie, and suger gliders are legit ! (pretty sure they are aussie native yeh?)

Anyway bro, welcome to the forum, hope you get your hands on some frogs, they're the sickest pets... and there are plenty of frog freaks here if you're frothin some info

    Hi Greg,

Mate, I will certainly come knocking! LOL...in the mean time the real hassle is to get my hands on some frogs! But as soon as I have some I will definitely let you know!

Yeah, a lot op ppl from here have gone to Oz, but recently I have also heard of a lot of them are returning to SA as they miss us too much!
I was offered a job at one of the zoos once but my wife wanted to know nothing of relocating to Oz.

Yip, Sugar Gliders are native to Oz and I love mine to bits. It was a similar battle to get my first pair but after I got them things started getting easier. Hope the same will be the truth with obtaining frogs!

Welcome aboard. South Africa has plenty of awesome native frogs, like Phrynomantis bifasciatus, Leptopelis natalensis, Hyperolius marmoratus, & H. semidiscus.
