I thought I'd come back to the topic of this thread for a second. So. Here's the tank after 1 day of work. No more blue paint. No more glass separation and a covered drainage whole.
Question: There are some pretty sturdy silicone stain on the glass, that is almost too small to use a scraper. Is there a product I can use, an industrial cleaner for example? I don't care right now if my kids day just from the fumes of it...
But all jokes aside... I tried an SOS pad, some warm water and vinegar and to no avail...

Are you sure its silicone? That would not stain the glass. Is it calcium deposits? Let the vinegar sit on the area for a long time. You can also try CLR Cleaner that works great.
For silicone you need a brand new razor blade to remove that very fine layer. You can also try more extreme measures like turpentine or naphtha soap. The tank would need a very good cleaning afterwords so try and limit the area you apply those to.

There's definitely some silicone stains, as I am the one who has removed it. It's not just a tiny film. I got a brand new razor blade and it's not cutting it. I will try CLR. I have also heard that acetone might do the job. It's starting to be warmer here, so this part will be done outside, and I'll make sure to really clean it before going forward. Thanks, Mike. As always.

Eric,
Ah! Acetone was the item I could not think of! That should do the trick. It also evaporates very fast and I don't think it leaves much of the residue.

@1beataway: What a coincidence, I'm an English major as well! Found another thing in common besides frogs, White's in particular. XD
@Eric: I'm so sorry for hijacking your thread Eric, but I was getting bored waiting for your masterpiece! I just can't wait until this monolith of a viv is done! >< P.S. Another coincidence,
"Soliloquy" is in my list of my top 10 favorite words, close to the top, along with "catastrophe", "chicken", and "lunch", to name a few.
@Don: I'm gonna play that video right now.......>> Thanks for the heads up.
