    Question Trooper's Story

    Hello FF

I need some help with IDing my frog. I believe I might know... I just hope someone out there can confirm or point me in the right direction.

First, I need to tell you how I came across my pet of 1 year....

My job is one that I'd like to keep private on here, but, what I can say is that I come into contact with many foreign vessels.
March 30, 2010, I was at work when a dock worker opened up a refrigeration sea container. This cargo container is kept at 55 degrees F for no less than 7 days and takes a journey on a boat from Ecuador to the U.S. Upon opening its metal doors, I small, thin frog hopped out. I caught the frog and affectionately named it Trooper.... for surviving the conditions it did. I've done enough homework to think I know that it is a female Trachycephalus venulosus.
Trooper has been with me for almost a year now. She's almost tripled her weight and size (basically girth) because she's healthy, happy and fed.

    Some pictures of Trooper :

You are right, that's a Trachycephalus venulosa, I also keep one.
They secrete a slippery/sticky substance that can cause allergies. In Brazil they're called pepper frogs because it's thought they cause sneezing, and I already confirmed that .

Nice, thanks for confirming Trooper's species. I believe Trooper is a female because she doesn't have the discolored vocal sacs. I've tried playing recordings of male calls and she could care less! lol
I have heard her distress call once when I picked her up to clean her tank.... I had woken her up and she wasn't having it. She sleeps all day, unless I keep her area really dark.
