I have 3 young southern brown tree frogs. The tank is fairly tall and wide. Right now I have quite a bit of water and on top of that stones. I have 4 fake plants and an exo terra hiding cave. There are a few largish rocks and I have a few dead reeds from a dam that they climb on. Is this good for tree frogs? Also I don't have lighting or heating but I don't think I need it because they are in front of the window and the tank is always fogging up. Any suggestions on what I could do to make the tank more appropriate for tree frogs? Plz help!!!!
Hi Craig! I've moved your thread to the tree frog section. Litoria ewingii has quite a very broad habitat; but as all other tree frogs, it loves to climb. Myself would ensure their tank is taller than longer (around 24 in. tall). In addition to reeds, would provide vines and branches to climb on. We do not have a care article for them at this time; but you can read about enclosure set-up basics in this article: Frog Forum - White's Tree Frog Care - Litoria caerulea. Also, in the vivarium section are many nice builds you can learn from.
Setting up enclosures in front of windows creates a couple problems. First is drafts that can create temperature swings. Second is sunlight that can quickly heat up an enclosure, or in the case of nocturnal frogs, overheat them while they are resting. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
