Hi folks, glad you're still here. I just bought a used Oceanic tank, 18 x 18 x 24, perfect condition. It has air vents w/ caps, glass cover but with a hood also. So far I've got the hydroballs and netting and I'm mixing my own substrate. I'm not inclined to glue on a background of any kind but will build caves and ledges with rock and wood. Maybe a waterfall. Now for the hard part...I'm think I want dart frogs that are good in a group since this is such a big tank. Any suggestions?
It would be suitable for salamanders and/or chameleons but I think I'll stick to frogs.

Hi Alice, if you are not going to build a background and work mostly on the ground, you could go with D. Tinctorius, a pair of Azureus for example. Or Dendrobates Leucomelas (leucs) who do really well in groups, and are a great starter dart frogs. Stunning, too. These frogs are terrestrial by nature and will enjoy all the space your viv will have. And they are bold, too.
1.0.0 Red Eyed Leaf/ Frog - Agalychnis callidryas
1.1.1 Bumblebee Dart Frog - Dendrobates leucomelas
1.1.0 Dendrobates truncatus - Yellow Striped
1.1.1 Dendrobates tinctorius – Bakhuis Mountain
1.1.0 - Dendrobates tinctorius - Powder Blue
1.1.0 - Ranitomeya vanzolinii
Thanks for advice. Leucs and bumble bees are both in such bright yellow I was thinking about it, also bumble bees are said to have nice voices. The bi-color have beautiful canary like voices that I like also but not that sold on their color. If I could find about 3 more D. auratus to go with the two I have is possible. Three of us at the Zoo yesterday were trying to pick our favorites and naturally we just more confused. I still have time to think about it.
The tank will have lots of height in it and may put a moss wall on the back. I just don't want to spread silicone or foam all over the glass. I'm thinking of just small dots of silicone so I can adhere small pots of moss and ferns. Since I'm working on this in the kitchen I'm afraid thats where it may find a permanent display spot. Unless I can find two husky, handsome guys to come in an carry it someplace else.
I think u can cut cardboard to size of your tank, spray on whatever u want and lightly silicone it in place. That way it's removable if u want to change it. Just an idea I had.
what does everyone think?
