I am not an expert on such things, but I am almost completely sure it is alright. I know that coco peat is alright, and my tree frog care book recommends peat moss. Many pet stores sell sphagnum moss, and I have never heard of anyone having any trouble with their frogs eating it by accident. Many people also use sphagnum moss in their terrariums without stating it was a problem. Hope this helps!
