I provided a small pond with plants overhanging it for the frog to feel secure. I even placed a small jar where it can hide. The pond and the jar have dechlorinated water for the humidty and water needs. But after a day, i found my frog burrowed in the coconut fiber substrate.
Is it ok if i placed medium smooth rocks all over the tank to prevent it from burrowing? It messes the landscape. Afterall, there's the pond and the jar? OR is there more/extra benefits with the burrowing?
as long as they are as big as the frog, and depending on species, as some (WTF) will always get a mouth full of stuff when they eat. And the burrowing, that's depends again on species. I can't see a jar as much protection for them. Maybe hollowed bamboo or coconut shell is more acceptable, as it makes a nice dark place to hide. If u make your self, boil or bake it to kill the germs.
If it's a tree frog, a tall plant near the back corner to hide in is good.
I dont think a pacman would be complete if he did not burrow thats what they do. can you take a picture
The jar is tipped on its side. The whole frog fits inside. In fact it is more hidden there than burrowed. (I'll post the pictures later). Anyway, is burrowing in the substrate beneficial for the frog, except for shelter?
Again, what kind of frog??
It's a pacman frog (Ceratophrys cranwelli)
