Hello, I was just wondering how everyone handled light changes. I have been switching the bulbs every morning and night... I was just wondering if there is a different, better, or faster way to take care of this. I have considered buying a second hood, but I don't think there would be enough ventilation in the tank if I had two hoods sitting on top. And if I switch the hoods, I might as well change the bulbs :P So I was just wondering, thanks!
(I have 2 whites in there)
I use a 18 inch zoomed Hood that holds two bulbs and has independent switches. I don't need to use the night bulb unless I want to view them since the house is 70 at night.
I think the Hood was 37 bucks.
My other Vic has same Hood but runs two day compact fluorescent bulbs for day.
Maybe I'm missing something, but why run a light at night? If you need it for viewing or heat why not just use a dome light for the secondary bulb?
I have the same set up as you, I turn out the day bulbs a bit before 8 so they can cool off before the change, then I use night bulbs for viewing and heat (my hose is rather cold at night since my heater broke and I have to keep the window open or it turns into an oven in here [goose down blanket] >>). This hasn't caused me any trouble so far and I don't think I want to waste my money on another hood when I've already spent so much on what I have, but it'd be interesting to hear what other people do.
