    Default Tree frog # question

Greeting guys I currently have 3 pacman frogs and i think its time to move to the tree frogs. I wanted to know how many can be housed in a 15gal ? Its not a glass tank custom built but im guessing its about 15gal upright. I will have pics Friday

a 15 may be good for a juvinile whites, until it gets beyond a 3 inch frog. Suggest viv size for an adult is 20. And they should reach adult size within 9 months. Whites are quite hardy and require less humidity than all other frogs. They are nocturnal, but will greet you at the appointed feeding time, they're never late for dinner!!

I wouldn't house any tree frog long term in anything smaller than a 20 gallon, and even that is a bit small for my tastes.

Small species of treefrogs such as Dendropsophus and Pseudacris will be fine in an enclosure of that size. I think Hyla versicolor, cinerea, squirrela, and gratiosa will be too, if you keep the numbers low. Truth be told, I keep a lot of treefrog species in ten-gallon tanks. Of course bigger is always better.

I'm receiving two Phyllomedusa Tomopterna (Super-Tiger Legged Monkey Frogs) tomorrow and have set up an Exo Terra 12x12x18 for them, which is only 11 gallons. I was worried about size too so I asked the breeder about it and he said they should be fine. I provided them lots of spaces to hide and climb and modified the background that came with the set so they would have a place to sit and look around.

I still feel a little bad about providing them with such a small space for the two of them, but I got the OK from the breeder and definitely feel better about the decision to get two rather than one. These frogs are relatively regular size, about 2 or 2 1/2 inches, but they're thin bodied and won't take up too much space individually.

Bigger is always better, but sometimes a budget doesn't allow for that. I had to go small because of limited space and cash, but I'm OK with my decision, it could be a whole lot worse, after all.

Besides...you know you've caught the frog bug....So just consider this the grow out tank and then you can use it for the next set of frogs if these guys outgrow it.

Take some pictures when your frogs arrive. Nothing better than "frogs in the mail".

    It's like Christmas.

Of course Cheri, that's always true. Maybe one day when I have some more spare cash lying around I can upgrade these guys and use the smaller tank for a pair of darts...........>> MAYbe.

    XD

Oh, you know me, it'll be picture CITY when they get here. I'm going to take ones from when they're in the shipping box, to the transfer into the viv and then more! I can't wait to see what they look like, keep your eyes open everyone! ><

And it definitely FEELS like christmas. I woke up at 7 and was so jittery I couldn't go back to sleep! And 7 is pretty early for a 20 year old college student in the OC. XD
