Its really not worth talking about. Last January when I started handing out my collection I had around 200 adult dart frogs and another 200 froglets. In reguards to it being a large collection it was not compared to quite a few hobbyists The you have the herpshops and importers that have them by the thousands,
Michael
You started handing them out, where was I??!?!? So your current collection? What's the number currently? And what frog is on your avitar?
the forest
It got crowded in the house with all of my collection, a micro fauna business, my plant collection and the kids. So I figured it was time to take on new projects in need of breeding like the Red Rain Frogs and a couple others.
As for darts the only ones I have are a trio of both Quepo and Baru Grannies paid for and a dozen golden auratus. I plan to go alot slower this time around. I joined this hobby in 1999 and had about 50 vivs by 2001.
The frog in my avatar is a darkland pumilio. As for my collection I handed it out to new and experienced breeders all last year. I had a nice tintorious collection of about 20 species and the rest were mostly Ranitomeya mainly Reticulatus, Vanzolini and Fantasticus. My main focus were the reticulata as they are the smallest and seem to be the most difficult dart to breed successfully and raise to adults even after a couple decades in the hobby,
This was by no means a large collection. I have friends that have 2 and 3 times as many frogs.
Michael
I don't think you should ever get more frogs than you can name. If you look into the tank and can't remember their names you should cut back. Any more than that and you risk the pet hoarding show knocking on your door to do an intervention.![]()
They already came around lol
