Great looking Bullfrog, Kevin!! I must admit, I haven't handled my male since I first got him. Now that he is bigger than my hand, I use a plastic scoop to move him if I need to do something in his home. Looks like Chubbz is living up to his name! Very content looking frog. Can't wait to see more of him!

are you scared your frog may bite you?
in my experience they aren't to bad.
    thanks for the compliments.
I'd love to see current pictures of your pyxie.
As well as info on his SVL and how long you had him.
    thanks again everyone

Yeah, I am scared Kadesh will bite. I feed him using blunted feeding tweezers and sometimes he bites down on them and its like a vice. He lets go when he's ready-and not before! But he is calmer than my female, who can be very aggressive, especially at feeding time. I've had Kadesh for just over a year. He started off as an 1" long bright green froglet and now he is just over 5" svl of dark green brooding personality. My female, Obi, I've had for 6 months and she is 3 1/2" svl. I don't think she is going to get much bigger, but she might with the way she eats. Here's a couple of updated pics of Kadesh and Obi.

oh cool Chubbz started off the same way it wasn't til John commented on him being male that I was surely convinced he was male.
I got him at 1 inch in February and today he is 5 inches flattened out.
Do you ever get anxious for your boy to get big?
    I know I do.
He could of grown more if i fed him more rodents but due to the health risks he's only eaten 1 pinkie his whole life.
On another forum, Fatfrogs.. there was a beast named Pickles a 9 inch ABF who died at only 2 years old due to too many rodents.
but anyway thanks for sharing that with me.
they are good lookin' pyxies =)

I remember Pickles - I used to visit fatfrogs. I think a mouse every now and then is fine - I feed my male a medium rat every 1-2 months but you could probably do so more frequently.

I give my two a pinky mouse once a month. I know they would love it more, but after Johns' caution, they get it as a treat only now. The rest of the time it is worms and crickets and a superworm as extra. I would love for Kadesh to get big, but not obese. If he reaches 9" and is still healthy and fit and able to move around, that would be great, but if he only gets to 6 or 7" and he's still healthy, then I would be just as happy. I always joke that when he gets really big I am going to keep him in the bathtub for when the in-laws visit!!

yea I know i could feed him more rodents but i try to duplicate his natural foods the best I can.
I do feed him CB lizards quite often(1-2 a month).
Last night I tried a shrimp coated in calcium and he gobbled it right up.
Another food item to add to the list.
I also ordered 100 large dubia roaches this week and next week I think I'm going to start breeding african nightcrawlers for him.Have any of you guys tried breeding earthworms as food?

What are CB lizards? I would never have thought to feed lizards to a frog, but I guess, depending on the size, it would make sense. I also have shrimp on my list, but I only use that as a treat once a month as well. They (as John predicted) get bored of shrimp rather easy, even my female who eats first and asks questions later. I have never tried to breed worms myself, but I would love to try it. I just showed my daughter Chubbz picture and she is amazed you can hold him like that. Now she wants me to do the same-not a chance! :0

I'm glad she likes it, you should give your pyxies a chance
    yeh CB=captive bred
The species is the side-blotched lizard. They breed very well in captivity under right conditions and my Chubbz just loves them.

Interesting food idea that. I have never done it but if they are parasite free, why not.

Yeh I figured they couldn't be to bad for him being CB and the fact that they're reptiles.
Yeh they do that on you tube. I would if I could find nontoxic CB frogs for a decent price.
There's a frog Dealer Ed Clark who was also on fatfrogs for awhile posted some pics of one of his imported male south african pyxies eating a Savannah Monitor and a ball python. Then he tried to turn around and sell it for $500. LOL!!

Jake, give the African Bullfrog Article a read - it explains all about feeding Pyxies but the info also applies to Pacman frogs.
