I remember Pickles - I used to visit fatfrogs. I think a mouse every now and then is fine - I feed my male a medium rat every 1-2 months but you could probably do so more frequently.

I give my two a pinky mouse once a month. I know they would love it more, but after Johns' caution, they get it as a treat only now. The rest of the time it is worms and crickets and a superworm as extra. I would love for Kadesh to get big, but not obese. If he reaches 9" and is still healthy and fit and able to move around, that would be great, but if he only gets to 6 or 7" and he's still healthy, then I would be just as happy. I always joke that when he gets really big I am going to keep him in the bathtub for when the in-laws visit!!![]()
yea I know i could feed him more rodents but i try to duplicate his natural foods the best I can.
I do feed him CB lizards quite often(1-2 a month).
Last night I tried a shrimp coated in calcium and he gobbled it right up.
Another food item to add to the list.
I also ordered 100 large dubia roaches this week and next week I think I'm going to start breeding african nightcrawlers for him.Have any of you guys tried breeding earthworms as food?
What are CB lizards? I would never have thought to feed lizards to a frog, but I guess, depending on the size, it would make sense. I also have shrimp on my list, but I only use that as a treat once a month as well. They (as John predicted) get bored of shrimp rather easy, even my female who eats first and asks questions later. I have never tried to breed worms myself, but I would love to try it. I just showed my daughter Chubbz picture and she is amazed you can hold him like that. Now she wants me to do the same-not a chance! :0
I am assuming CB lizards means CB lizards.
I'm glad she likes it, you should give your pyxies a chance
yeh CB=captive bred
The species is the side-blotched lizard. They breed very well in captivity under right conditions and my Chubbz just loves them.

Interesting food idea that. I have never done it but if they are parasite free, why not.
