I am sooo excited!!!

I finally got my aquraium. Yesterday I went with the 55 gallon tank instead of the 150 gallon. It was too overwhelming and too heavy. And I thought since MikeM670 have constructed a 55 gallon Viv. and posted the steps he took I could use his post for a reference.

I cleaned the tank for 8 hours off and on trying to get the calcium build up off. Might have to get some CLR to clean up the rest of the calcuim.

On Thursday I will be buying the first part of my build. I would go get it sooner but it is a hour and half drive to the closest store. (I live out in the mmiddle of Nowhere).

That is an interesting proposition, but I'm not sure how well that would work. It probably would increase evaporation a bit. I would just worry about the temperature of the water, because many frog species do not like warm-hot water. But if you added a bubbler that would increase water movement and increase evaporation without the temperature issue.

I do, simply because I live in Montreal and we have crazy cold weather. I have a heating pad under the vivarium, just underneath the clay balls (remember, if you are using a heat pad, make sure it only covers a portion of the bottom, as frogs need also colder areas to thermoregulate).

Now with all the humidity and watering, I have good amount of water falling in the drainage bottom. The heat pad helps evaporate the water, thus creating more humidity but also, getting rid of the excess water...

As for heating, yes. But I have mine on a timer. It's a 15w heating cable, but it can heat pretty well.

If I may ask...
is the heat pad inside the tank, or underneath the glass bottom of the tank?
And in addition to that, where would a cable go?
If room temp is, say, 65 degrees, could such gadgets heat a 20- or 29 ga tank to 75 degrees or so?

nice tank, you can do alot of nice set-ups with that size tank don't forget to share some pictures when it is ready!
