Water Based Terrarium For White's TF?

I searched a couple of terms and could not find any threads on this, but I am thinking about setting up a vivarium like the one pictured below for my White's Tree Frogs.

The vivarium in the picture is at a local pet store, in the bottom right corner is "Limerick" a two headed red eared slider! (found near a power plant of course)

For my setup I would have a little more in the way of land (maybe a tree stump for an island in the middle), but I want it to be water based in that there are no substrate layers just water, pebbles, slate, and copious amounts of plants and things to climb on.

Anyone ever do this for a white's, or any other tree frogs?

Any reason I should not?

Any other thoughts?

In general it's a great idea, so long as you have proper biological filtration and change the water often. The only problem so far as I can see, is that crickets are dumb and like to drown whenever possible, so make sure you have some means of preventing that.

And actually that set up is much better for a tree frog than it would ever be for a semi aquatic turtle.

Oo, I never thought about the crickets, that will be a problem I'll have to do some thinking on that.

They have had that mutant turtle for a few years, and it has not grown at all, it also has a hard time moving around being that it's two front ends of a turtle. I think that's the reasoning for their setup.

As a thought, if you can fit a glass bowl somewhere in there that would take care of crickets.

I forsee one other small problem, though your idea is original and cool. White's aren't very good swimmers, but so long as the water isn't too deep I don't see a problem besides the crickets. It would just be a shame if one of your heavy White's miss-jumped or stepped or fell off of a plant, landed in the water and was unable to get back out. That would be my greatest fear when setting up a water based viv for White's. But other than that, as long as you're not planning on making the water too deep, I say go for it. It sounds like a cool idea.
