    Default Runts, who's got em?

So I've been thinking about the best place to put this topic and I guess it is more a general discussion than specific to one type of frog. The background, in my collection I have two frogs, one, a firebelly toad, the other a white's tree frog who both just generally suck at being frogs. I don't mean they aren't entertaining or that I dislike them, for that matter I probably devote more attention to them. For example, I have 3 firebelly toads, two of whom are fat and one of whom is skinny. The fat ones in a single jump catch their prey and gobble it down. The skinny one on the other hand will dive right at it, and somehow not catch it in its mouth before it jumps away, usually into the waiting mouth of one of the others. Even when I use my tweezer and bring the cricket right up to him somehow it takes two tries to snag it in its mouth. Also of note, while a runt physically, this one is the one always sizing up the parameters of the tank and trying to figure out a means of escape, so basically I consider him the nerd of the 3. The tree frog is even more particular. Since it is smaller than its tank mate, I have taken to feeding them in a separate enclosure to ensure eating. My bigger whites, the food barely touches the ground and it is gone. With ninja like reflexes crickets don't stand a chance and worms even less so. The smaller on the other hand, will sit there and stare at the same single cricket for 20 minutes without moving, I mean the cricket can even crawl over it and it only just flick the cricket away. When it finally decides to go for it, it is inevitable it will take 2-3 shots before it is caught, and usually after a miss it takes the poor bugger a while to get its confidence up. In addition, it refuse to jump more than an inch forward to catch its prey, which is odd considering the distances I've seen the frog jump in and out of the tank.

I guess the point of this topic was for other people to talk about their experiences with the less handicapable of their collections and perhaps some of the ways they've found to benefit these poor guys.
