Thread: New Frog!

  1. #1

    Default New Frog!

    Went to the herp show in hamburg PA today, and came back empty handed! It was really crowded, and I had my eye out for some bumble bee walking toads, or an adult white's tree frog, but I didn't see either. However there was just about any other herp you could imagine...figures.

    Anyway after leaving with nothing I decided to get a new terrarium and rescue a baby white's from the perils of our local Petco.

    Here he/she is

    Good for you, and well done! If you can, add lots of climbing branches for your White's, and more foliage. S/he will thank you for it!

    I hope you end up finding a Bumblebee Walking toad at one point. I love mine, she's bold, spirited, and clumsy.

    Congrats again on your new addition!

    Congratulations on your new frog. What size tank are you keeping him in? It looks a little small for a whites tree frog. You may also want to consider setting up the tank vertically to give it more height. Tree frog....think TREES.

    This is just at temporary terrarium that I set up until this frog is large enough to go in my 40 gal terrarium with my other white's TF. However it is hiding most of the time which would back up your suggestions for more trees and cover. I'll have to add some larger plants.

    It was really shy when I first put it in the new viv, but it murdered 6 or 7 crickets right off the bat and that's always a good sign!

    I just recently picked up a baby White's, rescued from a local pet store and have almost the same situation as you. XD I have to wait until he's big enough to go in a viv with my big boy whose nearly 3 inches now, with the little guy only being about and inch. It's exciting taking care of a baby, but it can also be pretty scary. XD;

    Congrats on you're new edition, s/he's a beautiful color and looks very content in her/his new home. ^ ^

    lucky you!!! If u find she's scared u can cover 3 sides of the viv. Atleast, I did all 4 sides cuz mine are in the living area. The noise alone is a shock to them, although, blues seem to be a bit braver than standard WF. Within a week my Lil one was peeking at me over the cover. I knew she was ready to see the world. She still watches me after dark.

    Anyways, see u set up alblum, I'll have to check it out.

    I woke up to find my little guy peeking out over his covers too! I hope he's ready for me to uncover him soon, I'd like to watch his nightly routine, most of the time he soaks in his water bowl and then I go to sleep, so I have no idea what he does after that. XD;
