    Default Pac Man Problem

    Hey All,
I seen to be having a health issue with my little Fat Face. I was cleaning out the tank and feeding when I noticed this big bump on Her leg... Im assuming its curable because she shows no sign of discomfort and eats readily.
Can anyone tell me what it is and, how she most likely got it and, most important, how to cure her of it.
Thanks in advance to all my concerned frog buddies out there.

A bump like that could be anything, bacterial/fungal infection, aberrant bone growth, soft tissue tumor, etc. Maybe some more information would help. Is it move-able, soft, hard, gritty, painful? Have you noticed any rapid growth? Are your temps and humidity ok?Even if you figure out exactly what it is, the source may never be identified. I hate to be the barer of bad news, but just because the frog is still acting normal, that doesn't mean it is curable. I hope for your sake and your frog's that everything turns out ok. If no one else has any ideas, and you notice any progression, I would recommend a trip to your local exotics vet. Best of luck.

Sorry to hear your pacman is having a problem and I hope he gets better soon.

Just out of curiosity do you have a heat source in, under, or around his habitat where he could get too?

It almost looks like a burn blister, but that is just a guess. One of my family members had a local caught frog they were raising from a tadpole and he was burned and it looked very similar.

I hope you figure out what it is and everything goes well.

    Ok Guys,
Thank you for the insights and replies. The situation has gotten worse... The bump has become an entire swollen leg! It looks like is filled with water but, when I tried to poke it with a straight pin to let it out,,, nothing...
I took her to Pete at underground reptiles. He suggested I go to a fish store and get Tetracycline. She's been on it for almost a full day now and I can't visibly see a difference in the swelling but, I "feel" it may be working. It sounds silly but, I know who/how she is and she is feeling better.
Do either of you have a similar experience? If so, please tell me about it. Id like to know the whos and whats and hows. If I can avoid this situation in the future, Id be all the better for it.

    Thanks, Roman

I'm glad you feel your frog is doing better, and I'm sorry to hear about the progression to the whole leg.

I would like to issue a word of caution about taking medical advice from someone who is not a medical professional as well as using medications without one's oversight. If this is indeed a bacterial infection, you don't know what bacterial species you are targeting (or at least you didn't mention any suspects). Dosing regimens are not necessarily standard across bacterial species, and definitely not standard across animal species. Not to mention throwing non-specific antibiotics at things is a great way to induce resistant strains.

Good luck, and I hope everything turns out ok. Keep us updated.
