Default Sonoran Green Toad - Bufo retiformis

Anybody know about the legalities concerning these toads? Can they be purchased, where can they be purchased from?

I believe they are a federally protected species, but I am not sure on that.

Interesting question. I believe Bufo retiformis protected at the state level. Amphibiaweb say it is listed in Appendix I of CITES but CITES says its listing was deleted in 2000 (and it says it was an Appendix II listing). Confused? Me too.

My suggestion is to settle for debilis, just as pretty and much easier to get.

Well, Bufo retiformis is like a Bufo debilis with the colour contrast turned up but otherwise they are very similar toads that used to all be listed as the same species. The one I'd love to see in person even more than Bufo retiformis is Bufo kelloggi.

For me it would have to be Anaxyrus (Bufo) exsul.

I think black toads are pretty.
I just looked at a picture of kellogi, wow, it looks just like debilis but with out all the nice color.

Obviously not looking at photos of the same species. Where's this photo you're talking about?
