Hi guys, just wondering if woodlice are any good to feed to my southern bell frogs (about 4-5cm) and also, does anyone know the nutritional value of these?
Done quite a bit of searching but cant seem to find anything except that their shell is very high in calcium?
I have a good supply of these so would be great if they are ok to use as a semi staple food
That's a tuff one. I found an article that pretty much seemed to state thet they are what they eat... I'm gonna look for more tho. Here's the article: http://www.bio.puc.cl/caseb/pdf/prog...ct_PE_2008.pdf
A good article on propigating and keeping woodlice: http://turtletown.giblar.com/woodlice.html
An interesting debate on feeding woodlice on my cham forum: http://www.chameleonforums.com/woodl...38/index2.html
I don't know if any of this will be helpful ut at least it's more info than you started with.
To bad this research doesn't cover woodlice or springtails,
but it does show nutritional values of a lot of other feeder insects.
I have to warn you, it is in German.

Hi Aaron from what I've read I think if the woodlice eat nutritous food then they themselves will become nutritous so I would feed them veges if you want them to be good food for your frog. I too feed my frogs woodlice and there is a colony in the enclosure.
