I live in the UK, In scotland specifically and I have no idea where i can get a hold of different morphs of Xenopus Laevis. I have been searching every shop within about 30 miles of where i live and still nothing.
After seeing Jenste's thread with the big bucket of frogs I decided I wanted to get some variation into the types of clawed frog that I own but I dont know where to start looking.
If anyone could help me out by pointing me in the right direction I would very much appreciate it.
cheers, Gav
Hi Frogman!!
You won't find the different color morphs in petstores - only through private breeders.
To get my hands on the reticulateds etc I went through Xenopus Express (xenopus.com) and I think they have UK shippers as well - they have a UK phone number on the bottom of their page for you to contact them for orders.
This is no easy task. All I can find on that site is a French phone number which doesnt even exist!
I cant find any information on private UK breeders. If I wanted to buy thousands of frogs however, for medical research I wouldnt have a problem.
There must be someone in this forum that has dealt with a private UK breeder before...
All I want is a couple of different morphs in my tank, I dont really aspire to be dissecting my frogs any time soon which seems to be the main reason for their sale
Help please![]()
Give me a few minutes....I have a direct email contact with the main person, Burley on the USA Side, I will find his email for you to see if he can help you.
ok, burley's main contact email - - - burley@xenopus.com
and here is his cell phone email - he usually just uses this to send pictures of potential frogs I might buy.
burleylilley01@pm.sprint.com
I hope he can help you get in contact with the UK breeders!!!
Spot on Jenste!. Il get in touch with this guy soon. Thanks very much for your help
Although getting different color morphs would be exciting, I would like to see more interest in keeping different species of Xenopus. Besides, X. laevis - I have seen X. borealis and X. (Silurana) tropicalis regularly available. There is a person that I met online from the Czech Republic that regularly breeds X. fraseri and X. amieti. Even some Pipa would be nice too![]()

Frogman did you ever find anywhere/anybody in the UK with different morphs? I've been looking too but like you have only be able to find people that will sell thousands for medical research etc.
Cheers
