My American Bullfrog is growing like a weed, and seems to be doing very well. However, I noticed that recent pictures of her show her to be of a lighter colour than pics I had taken a couple of months ago. Do Bullfrogs have drastic colour changes such as this often? Nothing in her environment (temp, humidity etc) is different at all.
First picture is from December; second picture is from yesterday. Oh, and she was tentatively sexed as a female, but I think she is big enough to be confirmed: definitely a girl??? Thanks for the help.
Hi I have three green and golden bell frogs and they were in the dark corner of my room and they were really dark but now they're in the sunny corner they have turned bright and more gold than bronze. Perhaps it's that it's become lighter so your frog has also become lighter. I have also heard of frogs changing colour to suit their surroundings that also might be a factor but as far as I know colour change is pretty normal.
Hope this helps
Luke
If memory serves, that would be a girl based on the tympanum. Bullfrogs run the gamut, color-wise. If your eats well and is active, don't worry.

Oh, she eats like a horse! :-) Thanks Luke and John. She is definitely keeping me on my toes, but appears to be thriving, so I will continue to let her do her own thing.
If she turns brown in the night... it's very normal because they do that to ''hide'' with their colour so other animals won't see them much. If she turns brown alot, then ask for some help from professionals.
