Do ABF's go off feeding sometimes? My Big one just isn't interested in eating at the moment... What are some factors for me to be looking into??
Thanks

estivation needing to chill and take a dump?
African Bullfrogs, Clawed Frogs, Salamanders, Newts, Bearded Dragons,
I know a lot of herps go off feed with winter slow down but being in Boca that likely isn't an issue for you as far as the cold goes but amount of daylight could factor into winter slow down, also breeding seasons will make a herp go off feed as well as shedding.
Temps are the main factor, secondly it would be the humidity. If you were to raise the temps I'm sure you would see a difference in feeding response. If he spends most of his time in the water, I would raise that or vice versa if he spends most of his time on/in substrate.
I have the same problem, my biggest pixie isn't eating neither, and he's always in the water with his eyes closed. and everytime i come in, he submerges under water and hides, he doesn't eat neither, but my other pixies are eating fine. Is temperatures still a problem?
Maybe it's sick? Ectoparasites, maybe...this would be a reason for the permanent bathing.
My one once showed a similar behavior and at second glance I noticed red mites in the substrate and on the frog. After a substrate change, careful cleaning of the terrarium and the frog (warm and mild shower) and one week of waiting, everything was fine and feeding was back to business as usual![]()
My big male does this a lot too. He'll eat one week and then wont for several weeks. It's kind of chilly where I live right now, but I've got a heat lamp on him.
