As for hot glue on wood, it's a hit and miss. It doesn't work in high humidity terrariums like darts. We have had a few air plants fall off.
Thanks, my air plants had the same problem in the dart viv build I just did. They just fall off with the hot glue stuck to the plant and not the cork.

Wanted to let u know I found a frog popular silicone that sticks real good, adhears to everything, GE silicone II (2) 3 hour rain ready. Expensive, but works for putting toys together, held big mushrooms on my viv glass. Strong and 100% silicone. May not work for quick fixes with inhabitants inside, but probably will never fail.

@Gingerlee: Thank you. That's the silicone we used to build one of our terrariums. It's extremely adhesive and it comes in a darker brown too which is practical to cover spots.
@Don: We used an aquarium silicone for the plants. The challenge is that it takes longer to dry. A piece of tape will help...

I was reading somewhere that the GE Silicone II has a mold resisting agent that shouldn't be used in things with animals but the GE Silicone I would be OK since it doesn't include the added agent. Not totally up on this but when I did my Dart Viv after reading that I used the Silicone I.
I tried the glue gun for my small job this morning and so far so good.

I didn't know that. In the Darts Terrarium thread by John, http://www.frogforum.net/vivarium-te...struction.html, he used the GE II silicone. I've been using the same one, and making sure to leave the terrarium breathe before introducing live plants and animals.

I just did some searches on the topic and see where its mostly opinion on the use of I or II.
    Bioseal is the agent.

I read several articles and no one has reported problems with using II.

good, I'm glad I did ok. This stuff is so strong it held a white shelf mushroom the size if my hand. And I didn't have to secure it for it to dry in place. Like 5 minutes maybe
