Hi, first of all, I was amazed to find a forum about frogs and toads! And I thought it was pretty darned cool that I did.

I don't have any toads or frogs that I call my own, but am quite interested in studying them in their habitat as they are important indicator species.

So my first question is about toad identification. Toads appear to have a unique spot/skin pattern between individuals. Do the spot patterns change as they age or do they stay the same, much like a human fingerprint?

Welcome to the forum Jcoop. I think we're going to need Kurt for this question. Did you know on some butterflies the spots follow them from caterpillar to butterfly. Bet you always wanted to know that.

Thanks for the welcome! Fascinating tidbit about butterfly spots. That's pretty amazing.

Will Kurt visit this forum or should I post this question elsewhere on this site?
