First off, sorry ive been gone for so long... but college has been crazy lately.
Now, back on subject, i bought two feeder goldfish for Bertha about two weeks ago (which I now know are NOT good feeders) and put them in her pool area. She tried to eat them at first, but after many (amusing) unsuccessful attempts, she just kinda gave up. Now, when she sits in the water, she lets them kinda pick at her skin, kinda like they're cleaning it? She just sits there and lets them do it, so I'm assuming she doesn't mind it or even likes it. do you think this could hurt her in any way if the goldfish continue to live there?
some pyxie I have... makes friends with goldfish!!!
I actually think it is helping your frog because the fishes are more likely eating its shedding skin. The gold fishes do not have teeth neither so there is no way this will hurt your frogs. I think the only way a gold fish can hurt your frog is if they have teeth. BTW, i have a dwarf frog living with a goldfish and it was pretty funny watching them dive for the fish!
Yeah, she dove head first into the water about 5 times and got nothing but a big mouthful of water, lol!
I would like to make the suggestion that you don't feed your frog goldfish. Goldfish are extremely "dirty" when it comes to fishes. A close friend of mine raises/breeds goldfish and always tells me how important filtration is for goldfish, because of how dirty they are. Also I wouldn't risk the chance of your frog obtaining a nasty parasite from eating a goldfish and/or some other nasty fungus/bacteria from sitting in water with the fish. If you want to give your frog some variety in their diet, I would recommend night crawlers and/or hawthorn caterpillars. Both of those are highly nutritious and don't carry the risks. Hope this helps.
