i have a huge vivarium with 2 cuban tree frogs and was wondering if it would be possible for any other species, if a similar size to cohabit the viv safely without causing any stress to either species, many thanks for reading![]()
Cubans are quite toxic, known to cause arergic reactions in children and give the ahsma. I wouldn't recomend any thing to be mixed with cubans execpt cubans.
Its pretty much the consensus to never mix species. For many reasons.
I just know that Cubans=eating machines. They would probably eat any other species you put in there with them, even if they were slightly bigger! Those frogs have serious appetites, makes one realize why they are such a pest species in Florida.
A long time ago before there was an internet or any easy form communication between herp collectors or any easy way to get good reliable information, I had a set up with Cubans, Green Tree Frogs and Barking Tree Frogs. Given what I know now about Cuban's toxicity I would not mix Cubans in anymore, but perhaps I was simply lucky because the whole group did quite well together for several years. A large enclosure, large water area that was kept fresh regularly and the fact that my Cubans at that time were not as huge as the two I have now probably helped.
I still wouldn't hesitate to mix greens, greys and barkers beacuse I've done it before with good results.
