Hi!
Finally got myself an african bullfrog. Picked it up last saturday and I'm very happy about it.
It started out great with it eating a couple of crickets and jumping around, exploring its cage. But now it borrows itself completely and is not interested in the crickets. Just shuts its eyes and "backs down" into its hole when I offer food.
Is this normal behavior for a bullfrog that just has been moved? I've got the humidity in the cage at 80, temperature at 28C at one side and 25 at the other...
So, is this a male or a female? I for one don't care if it's a female since I like the size it is now. But I am prepared for it to grow big if it turn out to be male...

It looks like a baby edulis(dwarf). It should be normal but i think you should turn the temperature up to 72-85 degrees
Aah, I see. Is it the eyes and the white dot that tells you it's an Edulis?
But anyway, the food-refusal right after being moved is kinda normal?
I'm saying it's an edulis because it has only one light green stripe, as a baby a giant has three while they dissappear as they get older, and the edulis only has one light green stripe going down there back. And yes it is normal because when i got my frog he did not eat for the first or 2nd day, after that he started to munch on anything that moves
I agree with Jag, it is a dwarf... But , don't let the name fool you. I had a dwarf that got quite big. I've learned on this site that just having two categories for ABF does not work. Enjoy![]()
Heh, I'm actually quite ok with it being an Edulis even though it was sold to me as an Adspersus. Call me crazy! :P
But he/she still hasn't eaten. That worries me.
Temps are high? humidity fine?
Temperature is at 28C in one end of the tank and 24C in the other. Humidity is around 80.
Today he/she made an attempt to catch one of the crickets I offered, but failed. Then he/she went back to not being interested in food.
I've added more water to the substrate and hope that it will help.
Give him a warm, dechlorinated bath. That usually makes them feel better and awake.
I think it was the humidity that was wrong. After I raised it a bit he/she started eating dubias![]()
