Hi everyone!
I was curious if a 12X12X18 exo terra would be good for a whites? I have been given one from my sister that is brand new, she ended up needing. But I don't want to put my Dumpy in there if it would be too small. Please, advice is welcome! Thank you so much!
The general rule of thumb for White's is that you should start with 20 gallons for the first frog and add ten gallons for any additional frog you intend to house. White's get pretty big so they need lots of room. A 12x12x18 is 11 gallons, so generally it would be too small for a full grown WTF, which can get to about 3 or 4 inches in length (females tend to be a bit bigger than males).
How old/big is he/she? If the frog is small a 12x12x18 should be big enough for a little while but as it grows you'll probably want to give it more space.
My WTF is about 9 months old (that's just a guess) and is 2 1/2 inches long. I had him in a 10 gallon long for about a month and a half, which wasn't the proper size, but have since moved him to a 33 gallon tall that's perfect for him and a buddy I plan on getting sometime soon.
So as a temporary housing I would say go for it, but for long term you might want to look into getting him more space, especially if you plan on adding more frogs in the future.
