Here are pictures of my two Pipa pipa.

Good looking Pipa pipa! Is this a breeding pair?
They are such an intriguing species, I believe. Nice one, Terry!
A breeding pair of Pp in a large enough, 'natural' tank is something I'd drool over, if I had the time and space (and permission! lol)
PS. As I side note, I've never gone as far as requesting CB pipa here in the UK, but I always vouch for CB over WC, in terms of 'pet' ownership, at least. And what a strange breeding process they have?
Thanks for sharing, Terry. These guys seem pretty interesting, but I've only seen them a couple times and know nothing about them.
Thanks! Both Pp are CB. I would like to breed this species, but I just don't have the room for such a large aquarium. I always prefer CB over WC, but sometimes I take in rescues which most likely were WC.
Pipas were commonly available in the U.S. but I am afraid that due to chytrid and the fact that Xenopus is illegal in several states may make aquatic frogs more difficult to obtain.
They have a most unusual breeding method. However, not all species of Pipa give birth to fully formed toadlets. In fact about half of the species in the genus Pipa give birth to tadpoles. Check out my photos of Pipa parva in another thread (they are one of three species that the young have a tadpole stage).
Great! I'm looking forward to it.Would you be interested in posting a pic of your setup?
