I am going to clean it out today, but before I do I would like to pose a question. Every time my frogs ( two whites and two greens) Defecate, I notice these tiny insects crawling through and around it like they are eating it. I do not think it is an internal parasite, but instead something nested within the depths of the soil. Does anyone know for sure what these critters could possibly be? Thanks.
Sounds like springtails. Can you post a picture. Or google springtails and see if that is what you are looking at.
Can you post a image of the insects you see in the tank? Are they springtails? Depending on what the are you may want to leave them alone as they are a source of food for your frogs. More experianced membes here could give you better guidence if they can see them.
Whites would be way to big to be eating them if they are springs
try blowing on them and see if they spring and bounce
everywhere. If they do they are prob. Springs
Those are springtails. They won't harm your frogs, I seed all of my tree frog vivs with them to help break down waste.
