Thread: Clay water area

    Default Clay water area

    Hi
Would I be able to make a clay water area for my frogs or will it leech anything into the water? If I make it dry it in my wood fire then wash it then re-cook it, it should be ok right?

I use clay mixed in with my substrate and put plants against my backwall with it as well.
The clay i use is the clay used for bonsai, they plant trees on flat dishes or on rocks with it.
Or clay used for the Koi hobby.
They put it against the walls of the tank, this would improve water quality.
It even takes up nasty components from the water.

I found it to be a great substrate, helping to regulate the humidity as well.
Only downside i think, is when it stays wet, it is easily flowing away,
If you want to make anything permanent from it, i suggest you look into Flevopol or Compaktuna method.
I am not sure what the equivalent would be in the US.
