Red eye tree frog with tongue sticking out!

I went to check on my red eye just now and found his tongue sticking out with soil stuck to it. I rinsed him off and he retracted it but opened his mouth and it was sticking out again. What to do???? Please help! He ate one cricket 2 days ago and is due to eat tonight but I do not think he can eat this way! I moved him into a critter carrier with semi moist plain paper towels for now! This is what he looks like---> minus the smile

I tried to get a picture but he is too squirmy. I was able to get it back in to his mouth with a moist q-tip. So far it is staying. I am gonna try some repta-aid and wax worms for food. I am thinking a cricket bit back.

oh that's good to know. Could be anything I guess, substrate tastes bad?!? LOL. Vicious crix, or telling you that one cricket tasted bad, LOL. Hope it was a fluke and u won't see it again. Although if sounded like it would've made a great tshirt!
