A 5 gallon tank is not large enough for an adult frog to live full time in. Can it fit...yes...should it fit...No. Words like "squeeze", "frogs", and "tank" should never be used all in the same sentence.

In centimeters the tank they are speaking of ( 12 x 12 x 12 inches ) is approximately 30.5 x 30.5 x 30.5 cm. The size you mentioned of 40x40x40 cm isn't a huge difference in size is it?
There's a thread below where kurt ans 5 gal quest. And hers like 2 gal bigger. I can't cut and paste to quote anybody.
Sorry, maybe got to you in the wrong way,
No offence ment![]()
I did look the thread up, it was about 5,5 gallon tank,
There was also mentioned it was to small.
I looked up the size since We never use gallons .
The size I found was that of an aquarium, a 30x30x30 tank is a regular size as well.
As I said, it only has a purpose for raising offspring .
By most people, the 40x40 tank is considered enough, although it might pose problems when you have a dominant individual .
I always use a minimum of 60x40x40 cm, not sure about the gallons ,as well for the small species.
I found that the frogs will show more natural behavior when properly sized tanks are used.I think its nicer to be able to witness that then placing them in a to small tank just to be able to have more species.
When the tank is to small, sometimes it seems everything is working fine, just because they aren't able to maintain a territory , when you housevest them properly sized, they will start fighting.
This may seem ok, but it may stress them out, not creating and maintaining a territory .
They simply don't fight because the lack of room.
I checked the cm and inches.
30x30 cm is approx 12x12 inch 40x40 cm is approx 16x16 inch.
How many gallons that is ? I have no idea![]()
Cubic Inches to US Gallons (Liquid) conversion calculator
Cubic Centimeters to US Gallons (Liquid) conversion calculator
Those two might help
There are also converters to gallons dry, but I'm not sure what that really means..
I realize that a 12x12x12 is quite small for any frog, and I think I will just keep it as an emergency tank, because you can never know when you will need one.
I really like frogs, but at the time right now I couldn't get another frog anyways, thats something for after college![]()
PS. Any stories or advice for taking a frog to college?? :P
What are the thoughts on a bumblebee toad? I was looking at those yesterday and I really like themI'm not sure if I'd be able to get one though, and this would be way in the future anyways.
Ah, thank you, that must mean i use a minimal of approx. 25 gallon tanks then
Maybe you can try and get to maintain a viv at school,
i used to do that when i was in high school.
I maintained an aquarium and viv, at the biology classroom.
We also had a tarantula and some reptiles there,
they were visible in the hallway![]()
Wow I wish I had cut and paste, 2 weeks ago u said something different in 5.5 gal post I found below. So I guess it just matters on the day?!?
If someone sounds like they insist on "squeezing" a frog into a small space then I would recommend the smallest frogs i can think of. Wouldn't you? But you're back to can they fit fit or should they fit. But if you pushed real hard you could probably squeeze in at least five hundred ...what do you think?
