I started off getting one, a few years ago, at a big reptile show, but had problems caring for it. I followed what I was told when I bought it. It died. Then 2 years ago, caring for reptiles at a science center, I learned about caring for a large pacman frog and a light bulb went off about the pyxie frogs care. Then I knew I wanted to get another one. Studied up on their care and went looking. At the time they were getting harder to find in the pet trade due to short supply. I started looking deeper into their origin and native populations. Learned how the native populations are being severely pushed out by development. Knew I had to get another one or a few.

I like BIG pets, so these fit right in. Studying up on their specific care and into breeding efforts drove me on. Learning that there is really only one US breeder, being hard to breed and how hard they are to import, I just had to work with this frog. So, about 8-10 months ago decided I had to work on captive breeding of these wonderful frogs. Next thing you know I have a small herd of babies and adults looking to breed in a 'natural' way in the spring!
