always loved big fat frogs and never had any luck with pacman frogs - they alway died on me till one day someone told me that pixie frogs are bigger and hardier so i bought a pixie and will never look at pacmans again

I started off getting one, a few years ago, at a big reptile show, but had problems caring for it. I followed what I was told when I bought it. It died. Then 2 years ago, caring for reptiles at a science center, I learned about caring for a large pacman frog and a light bulb went off about the pyxie frogs care. Then I knew I wanted to get another one. Studied up on their care and went looking. At the time they were getting harder to find in the pet trade due to short supply. I started looking deeper into their origin and native populations. Learned how the native populations are being severely pushed out by development. Knew I had to get another one or a few.

I like BIG pets, so these fit right in. Studying up on their specific care and into breeding efforts drove me on. Learning that there is really only one US breeder, being hard to breed and how hard they are to import, I just had to work with this frog. So, about 8-10 months ago decided I had to work on captive breeding of these wonderful frogs. Next thing you know I have a small herd of babies and adults looking to breed in a 'natural' way in the spring!

I used to catch american bullfrogs when i was younger. Pet store mangager had a Giant African Bullfrog and people would always ask why does it just sit there, but they didnt know how vicious it really was.

i chose pixies because i found that they are about ten times smarter than a pacman just by movement and the way they eat. also they are way bigger and are kept in heat too!

I myself do not own one. But I would like to have one because of its size and the way they eat... I shoulda got the baby pyxie when I first got my pacman, kinda regret that I didn't.

And right now I have the honor to add one more, but then I am leave with 2 hard to pick choices, either the pyxie or the budgett's frog.
