Are you planning to shop vac that water out periodically? That Fluval is not gonna filter that water sufficiently. A couple dumps by a four inch pyxie is all it will take to over-run that filter.
Throw some feeder goldfish in there for 13 cents each and they will help clean a little although
i have basically same set up and frogs constantly drag coconut fibers in the water after burrowing
No. More animals equal more bioload...especially goldfish. Good Lord...are you suggesting goldfish eat frog poop? Not to mention the fact that goldfish are cold water animals and keeping them at pyxie temps would simply increase their metabolic rate, making them eat and poop more.
The bottom line is this: it is a cute setup for the pyxies for a few months. But once they each increase in size by a couple more inches they will turn this tank into a stinking mess in a weeks time.
It is not suitable for long term pyxie care unless you plan to eventually keep only one in it and clean it very regulary, including 100% water changes.
honestly i agree with both of you but also i dont want my pixies eating the goldfish and i will be cleaning the water out periodicly
Hectic set up my man,
If I could, I'd buy a couple pixies and do something similar but I'm pretty sure they're illegal down here in aus.(might illegally ship some down one day haha).
