Default Hello from grays tree frog

I love this site!! Found lots of useful info on my daughter's grays tree frog. I caught this little female in August, and got her set up in terrarium. First from in awhile. 3 weeks ago, she seemed to have lost her appetite, and seemed content to just slepp all the time....5 days ago, I noticed she curled up in her waterbowl, and 3 days ago, she was blue and unresonsive. Everything I have read leads me to believe sh is hibernating, eventhough she is indoors...Today, to make sure she is not dead, I moved her terrarium to a warm bathroom where we can close the door to keep warmer, and it appears she is slowly starting to get larger and rehydrate...Hope tomorrow continues to show progress...anyone else have a captive one go into hibernation with 70 degree temps??

Well a wild caught frog is probably full of parasites now that it's been confined to a small cage. When they're outdoors, moving about, keeps worms in check. Confined to a small area, let's the parasites re-infest the frog continually. This would be my guess. Any1 else wana give their opponion???????

I have a feeling your frog is deceased...grays at 70 degrees will generally not go into hybernation, and even with temperatures in the 50s and low 60s they will be lethargic but not unresponsive. If it is shrivelled, bluish and unresponsive it is most likely dead. Hope this helps, great if I am wrong!

Welcome aboard. I agree frogs don't go into brumation at 70 degrees. They make take enviromental cues, like shorter days, and stop feeding. When they do, you need to cool them, because even though their brains say "time to sleep for the winter", their metabolisms are still up and running. By not cooling them, they "digest" themselves, consuming body mass to feed themselves.
But I fear JT may be right.
