Hi there!
This may seem a little odd,but do a Cane toad ever stop eating?
I have 3 of those eating machines and a B.paracnemis. They all eat very much,in fact they have never ever refused food. Of course i do not give them 5000 roaches at a time, but even if i feed the smallest of them 30 adult dubias, she still jump around like crazy, biting everything that moves, including my fingers, forceps and the glass when i close her cage.
She even bites plants, hideouts etc when i feed her.
She shares the enclsure with the paracnemis, and that one is a bit smaller. The paracnemis have got the same behaviour,so when i feed them,i must fool the cane toad so she hop away from the rococo. Or else they bite each other in the face, the cane almost swallowed the head of the rococo once! Immediately after she spit out the toad ,the rococo shoot her tongue in the face of the cane instead!
Very funny to watch, but is this normal or what?
They both seem very healthy, fast moving and alert so i guess they just are like they supposed to be. OR?
My other 2 Canes are the real monsters from Suriname.
They do eat VERY much too,and i once fed them mice,i never do that again i tell you!
The largest of them (23-24 cm BL) did go total berzerk and destroyed every plant in the chase of the mouse.I Know that mice is not good food, they have only eaten that once in the 1,5 years i have had them.
These toads are fantastic creatures, and i absolutely love them with all my heart.
My concern is if they accidently swallow something bad in the feeding frenzy,i feed them with forceps, but they get in a different state when offered food.
Is this behaviour uncommon,or am i just lucky with healthy toads?
