I dont think this is a silly question but it very well be. I have 2 Afrrican clawed frogs and im pretty sure i have never seen them sleeping, mainly due to the clear lack of eyelids.
So how do these frogs rest?
Cheers, Gav
I think it's like fish, 3/4 of their brain shuts down so they can rest. The remaining active brain, watches for danger and retains float and possition.
this is why they need to be kept in a room that allows for darkness at night - - due to their lack of eye lids, they go into a sleepy state, never fully asleep due to their need to surface to breathe, but it reminds me of an almost hypnotic state - they can move up to breathe and position themselves, but are not fully aware.
Ha!, so when I look over at my tank and I see them 'dangling' in the water at the top they are asleep? I wondered what they were doing, cheers, Gav
