Default Linus (pacific chorus frog) asks: am I a girl?!

My frog Linus (pics below and my avatar) has grown to twice his length and several times his mass since his arrival in September (clinging to the kale in an organic veggie box). He is now 1 1/4 " nose-to-cute-green-butt.

His throat is still a virginal unruffled white - does this mean he's in fact a she (Lioness instead of Linus)? Or is it that froggy puberty won't hit him till next summer?

He was spawned this summer somewhere in Washington State, before he climbed on board that fateful Alaska-bound leaf of kale.

Most definately a female. The throat is darker even in juvenile males.

How exciting! Linus the girl. We're gonna celebrate that with a couple of crickets now!

And a beautiul looking Linus the Girl at that!!! Nice little belly on her too!

I just found out that out of the five Pacific Chorus froglets I got last summer, every single one of them was a boy! And I recently rescued another male who is very vocal. Out of six in total, only one female...what are the odds??? LOL

Someday I might try to find a BF for Mrs. Linus. I keep eating a lot of kale in hoeps of finding another little kale rider.

Are males more common in wild populations or are females?

I have no idea if males are more common in wild populations or not. I was hoping for at least one more girl so my poor Taiki wasn't alone, but it just wasn't meant to be. And when I had a guest come into my petstore with a frog in a jar, I made a quick ID on the species and hoped it was a girl....alas, it was not meant to be. Kind of funny in a way. My original male Yoki went from being a lonely boy when his brother died, to having to compete for his girlfriend in a crowd!! Poor guy.
