Hey guys.
So, i'm going to be setting up my first terrarium/vivarium here for Red Eyed Tree Frogs. I have a 29g aquarium and that's about it. Ha.
I have been reading extensively about substrate and false bottoms and everything else for a while and I have a few questions. And I warn you..i'm potentially retarded and may or may not have read things properly. D:
With concerning the false bottoms/drainage..When the water drains down and/or collects in the little pool in the corner or wherever it happens to be, do you need to filter that, or do you just change it every day and if so how do you go about doing that?
Also, i'm not entirely sure how to go about running the cords into/out of the tank. Should I get a partially mesh top and cut holes in it, or cut holes in the tank? I'd hate to have to do that, I am certain that i'd screw it up.
I am pretty sure that i'm just over-thinking everything and that is making it all seems much more difficult than it needs to be.
I'm just mostly concerned about the drainage portion of the substrate as well as the maintenance of the pool...
Is it your first amphibian setup and are you new to keeping frogs in general?
I'm not new to keeping frogs, i've just never set anything up myself before/maintained it. You know what I mean? Before, I inherited the setup and animals and the tank maintenance was performed by someone else while I did the feeding and spot cleaning and water changes.
The water was also in a bowl and not a little pool.
