Escape Artists?

So I picked up a pretty nice (pre-owned) ACF tonight. I had a 55 gallon setup and completely cycled with some goldfish in it. So I figured this would be a great addition and give her plenty of room to play around.

I know basic care but was warned that they can be escape artists. I have a full hood but there is space on back were the filters are that she could easily escape from. Should I craft a nice screen block to stop her from wandering the house and harming herself.

Also where can I find some cool morphs. I want to get a nice marbled or something in there with her.

they are definite escape artists- - I had a 4 inch frog wiggle out of a 1 inch or less opening....cover it up!


as for different color morphs - a few of us on here breed or you could try Xenopus.com but they can be much much more expensive...

There have been many accounts of African clawed frogs migrating over land to seek out new breeding territory or find a pond that has water. Xenopus tropicalis will leave the water to bask. These frogs are quite amazing!

As for color morphs, again from what I know, Jenste is probably your best bet.

Jen has successfully bred a couple of species of clawed frog. If you want other species, try borealis or tropicalis. They are commonly available, but expensive.

Frog farm do you have x.tropicalis? I thought you just had Hymenochirus (dwarf frog) ?

dwarfs and most clawed species do not seek out a land area - - x.tropicalis (ex. my Amelia on my site) are a smaller species of clawed (still much larger that dwarfs) that is a silverish-grayish-black with tiny silver eyes, a very flat small head, and an extra inner claw.
