Before anyone blasts me let me just say that it is Christmas and I gave my pacman a treat. He only gets a mouse pinkie every 6 months or so.
With that said, today when I fed my snakes one of the mice had "mites" (not sure what kind, little black bugs) and he was in the same take home container as the pinkie for pacman. Should I tear down pacman's tank and redo it just incase those little bugs got on the pinkie or do you think I am being paranoid?
In the take home box there was an african soft furred mouse hopper and 2 pinkie mice the ASF is what is the carrier. The snake that got the ASF is the only one that is showing signs of having bugs. The other snake that got the 2nd pinkie is not showing any signs (he has been moved to a sterial tank as well).
I have moved Pacman into a clean environment for the night (freeze warning and all) and before I put him back in his regular enviroment would like your oppinion on if I need to clean out his 10gal (regular enclosue).
Pacman belongs to my 5 year old or I would not be so worried but if he dies I would never live it down.
Thank you for all your help.
I do not know what kind of bug all I know is it is small, like the size of a pin head, maybe smaller.
Mites that are parasitic to snakes, rarely if ever affect frogs. In fact I'm not sure if frogs are even susceptible to mites.
You may be right, with them living in mostly water I think anything on him would drowned. Just had to make sure. I have already had to explain why one frog died, do not want to do that again.![]()
The pacman should be fine.![]()
