Hey Guys! I have a big question. I just setup up my new red eyed tree frog tank and I have an All water base that slops up to a patch of land. The water is about 3 inch. deep . So I wanted to know if I use a heating pad will it crack the glass????I have heard it before but is it really true. I using the exo terra compact top and I only have one Reptiglo 2.0. I know that they dont give off much heat. I was wondering if I should get the Reptiglo 5.0 or the Reptiglo 10.0 to increase the temperature? THANKS!
I have used them under the tank in water areas before with no problems. However, I have found a much better alternative that I now use. It might be worth you looking into.
TetraFauna Aquatic Reptile Heater at PETCO
As long as the area above the heating pad stays wet at all times there should be no problem. The cracking comes when the area above the heater dries out and becomes hot then water is splashed on it. Its like splashing water on a hot bulb.
