Coconut Shells

Take the coconut shell out, clean it and dry it completely (bake in the oven for an hour for example). Let it cool off and use aquarium silicone on it. It takes about 48 hours to dry. Problem solved - aquarium silicone bonds well to wood (and coconut shells).

Don, I loved your whites viv. How big is it? Pict makes it look soo huge. I used silicone to attach birch shelf musrooms(somewhat eddible) to glass and groups of pebble together ( so I wouldn't worry about impaction) I rinse in water after dry. That way I got the jade pebble I love.

Thanks... internally it is 31 inch width x 17 inch deep x 22 inch high.
It was a custom built enclosure with a large built in heating pad for an Old Ball Python I had 10 plus years ago.

I'll seal the coconut shell this weekend. I just added a huge piece of live sheet moss to the center on the viv so the Whites will hopefully inhale less plantation soil :-)

don, how'd your shell work out. Looks cool I bet. Ya that's still a big terrarium. But I looked again. It looks bigger than that. I hope to have one like yours some day. I'm new to whites, and had another member ask about size. What size are yours and if u can give an idea of growth time line. Even a guesstimate would be good. And am I right that there's larger and smaller strains of WTF. Mahalo-G

Three of my Whites are about 3 to 3 1/2 inches from nose to butt. One is only about 2 1/4 inch and is a slow grower. Not sure on age but I bought them when they were about 1 to 1 1/2 inches and that was in late September I believe. They grow pretty quickly.

The enclosure does look big and that is mostly because of the outer wood casing which one side adds at least 6 inches to the side for wiring and controlers (which I only have switches in now).


As for the shell, I baked it but the silicone I have won't stick well.
I eventually get it to work and its vacation week for me so plenty of time to have some fun.

Just saw u were still on. Thaught I'd say hi and thanks for info. I found a good silicone at Walmart that was heat safe. Since I had silconed rocks together that would be over my heat mat. Got a couple extra degrees from my rock radiator. I wanted to thanks for your great Picts and make sure u post after coconuts are in.
