Hi guys I've basically used water for my pac from which the chlorine has evaporated because it sits in a bucket for 24 hours or more is that considered treated water? Do you have to do anything other than remove the chlorine from water to make it treated and suitable for the frog?![]()
The only way you can have perfect treated tap water safe for any animal, is using a R/O unit. Witch a lot of fish breeders use for soft water fish. It takes out everything. But for letting it sit out for 24 hours is a old rule of thumb. Since now most city's use more cholrine and other things to treat the water to make it safe for humans, it doesn't really do a lot of justice for small animals and pets. I use the Prime water conditioner, as most water conditioner's are the same basic thing, just some work instant and others take a couple hours. But Prime is the best, you only need one drop per gallon and if you use double that amount it still safe for animals. It cost a little bit more, but in the long run you save more money then using the reptile stuff.
While letting it sit does evaporate the chlorine, it doesn't evaporate chloramine. To break the chloramine bond you can use de-chlorinator(such as prime) or you can use the sun. Uv also breaks the bond. Even then though, there's still those dang metals(copper, possibly lead).
k tanks for the info
