this guy can eat 4 mice in one sitting, but i normally give him 3 mice a week. i have read and know that mice are fatty and should not be a stable but what the heck am i supposed to do ? filling this guy up with bugs is next to impossible and they went from being his main course to the side dish overnight. mice=$2 dollars each as apposed to crickets at $1 dollar for ten and i need hundreds of them in one sitting

    what should i do

Nice looking frog! Nightcrawlers aren't that expensive and are pretty easy to find (about 12-20 for $3-$4). A lot of bait stores carry them, as does Walmart. Also, if you can, I would recommend starting a roach colony. Free, never-ending food supply. I tong feed roaches to my adult pyxie and have no problem feeding him 20-30 in just a few miniutes. Superworms are also really easy to breed, but shouldn't be a staple. 3 mice a week is way too many, and way to expensive. Good luck.

Haha...no problem. You could easily run out of roaches feeding a pyxie. I think the key is not overfeeding, and also making sure you have a large colony before feeding them off. A friend of mine has a colony well into the thousands. He and I keep lobster roaches, which breed really fast when the temps are kept up. I'm pretty sure if the colony is that well established, running out wouldn't be a problem. Takes a lot of patience, though.

Try starting off with 100 or 200 maybe even 300. 25 will take forever. What species are they?
